That's Arundo Donax in his hand, cane reed for uilleann pipes. Ronan is the official "selector" of cane reed for Seth Gallagher Workshop.

On the left, we have Ronan relaxing on his new hobby horse, made by Aunt Cara. He loves riding it... I just love that picture, he looks like John Wayne, taking a breather from a long ride, about to give some terse zen wisdom before he retakes the reins and saunters his mount off into the sunset. No?
